04/03/2013 I am writing to say that I admire your art. I am from germany, arrived in NZ 5 years ago, got stuck and now I am working towards my residency. I am a painter myself, selfemployed since 2000 and if I can I would like to study for a masters degree in fine art as well. Your art is showing me that what I feel about NZ! So thanks for that and Kind Regards Luane
04/02/2013 just wanted to let you know I bought a print of landscape in grey today at markets near canberra. I walked past it, and there it was, a touch of Taranaki for this homesick Kiwi (except that the mud isn't black, but I can overlook that). It reminds me so of my father, plodding along stoically in all weathers in his redbands.
thank you. lucie
24/11/2012 I love, love, love your artwork. Very talented! Keep doing what you're doing! - Selena
8/11/2012 I have come across a print of the Bullrush in a framing shop in Auckland. I have walked passed it many times and every time I have to stop and stare, there is something about the colours, the stillness and movement that holds me.
If it ever came up for sale (and if I could afford it), I would hang it up high in my living room so I can stare at it all day. Giyora
6/10/2012 My husband just found your site and wow, your work is amazing. I am a self-taught artist and you have inspired me to do bigger works - but to get to your standard I have a lot of catching up to do! Best Regards, Amanda.
27/03/2012 Your work as im sure you have heard,so many times is truly fabulous I very much enjoyed viewing your paintings ....The website works so well.

10/01/2012 Barry. Compliments on all the paintings. Lovely realism and palette too. Great country you are living in as well, which most probably helps with your inspiration. Nice!
All the best from the other side of the globe......Malta, Europe. - Zeal.
04/08/2011 We are a very English family living next to Te Tii a very Maori village ,we have the Queen proudly displayed in our kitchen and it is our favourite piece of art EVER!, the Maori people who visit love it, our English friends love it, for us it is a bridge between the two cultures in our lives. My mother in law hates it with a passion!! I wonder if its a generation thing? we brought it into the lounge for the Royal Wedding! My only disappointment is we couldn't buy the original. Sadly the Stone Store in Kerikeri where I bought it, no longer sells them as they drew critisism from too many English tourists - Vanessa
Thanks Vanessa. The article on this is at the bottom of the news link in the main menu. BRS
12/07/2011 I bought this card to send to my sister-in-law in the UK as she has had a hard year with her health and other issues. How you have captured the strength in the females stance, and in her body together with a pride that seems to ooze from the painting is amazing. I am hoping my sister in law will draw strength from this picture too. Thank you so much.
27/05/2011 Each day that I am at work I pass your painting "sitting pretty" on the wall at Burwood Hospital and my shoulders drop and my load lightens and I am reminded what life for me is all about.. thank you for capturing such a beautiful moment, I love your work. cheers paulette
Thank you Paulette, that is the best compliment I could hope to receive. BRS
08/05/2011 thanks Barry - fabulous web site, you're doing brilliant things and I do believe that virtually every library, public or otherwise, has "New Zealand's Favorite Artists" and it's a great reference. Keep going - you've come a long way since signage! :) Sandra
